季羡林（1911-2009），山东临清人。1934年毕业于清华大学外语系,翌年作为清华大学与德国的交换研究生赴德国哥廷根大学学习梵文、巴利文、吐火罗文,获哲学博士学位。1946年回国在北京大学东方语言系任教授，曾任北大副校长、南亚研究所所长、中国史学会常务理事等职。对印度古代语言、印度古典文学、印度佛教史以及中印文化关系等方面有精深研究，著作颇丰,有《中印文化关系史论丛》、《罗摩衍那安探》、《今译》（合著），译有《沙恭达罗》、《五卷书》、《罗摩衍那》等。

罗杰·夏蒂埃（1945— ）法国年鉴学派第四代的重要人物，主要研究领域为图书史、出版史与阅读史，同时在历史编纂学与历史认知论方面颇有建树。著有《书籍的秩序：14至18世纪的书写文化与社会》、《通信：19世纪信件之用》、《法国旧制度下的阅读与阅读者》等。
